FAQ

An escape room contains numerous puzzles and challenges that a team of participants must solve within the available time (60 minutes).  The puzzles require collaboration and creativity, which makes them fun, challenging, social, exciting, and helps foster positive relationships among the players.

You will not be physically locked in the room. You will always be able to leave the room if necessary. Nor will you ever be restrained or handcuffed.

No, not at all. The rooms are designed to be exciting and suspenseful, but nothing within the rooms is intended to be frightening or try to scare you.

Generally, no – it will not be dark.  However, Timed Out does use dramatic lighting and special effects to create exciting and mysterious environments, so there will be some areas or times where lighting may be dim (at least until you solve a puzzle!)

There won’t be any Timed Out staff in the room with you, but your group will be monitored by one of our team members to ensure everyone stays safe, and to provide a few helpful hints if needed.

We find players 15 and up are able to complete our rooms on their own. Younger players typically need an adult in the room, but we defer to reasonable parental discretion. The rooms may contain small items or elements that are not safe for small children. Small children will require constant adult supervision.

Yes, we have a brief waiver and rules document that we ask you to review and sign. It can be completed from the confirmation email after you make your reservation, or signed when you check in. All players younger than 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Yes, but it is easy to make a reservation – just click “book now”.  You may reserve a room well in advance, and should try to book no less than 12 hours prior to your desired time.  The reservation system will offer any available open times.  If you are having trouble, or want to book further in the future than our system will allow, please call us.

All bookings are private, only players you book will be in the room with you. Contact us if you wish to add additional players after booking.

Of course! Just let us know what you have in mind and we’ll do our best to make the experience outstanding!  Depending on the size of your group, we may be able to align starting times across a few rooms – and who knows, you may even find something special in the room just for the event!  Also, while we don’t serve food or beverages, we are happy section off part of our lobby for a bite of birthday cake that you bring along.

The player capacity for each room is specified when you make a reservation.  In general, each room is optimized for 4 to 8 players.

Usually, we can support one or two additional players in excess of the “max” size – please call us with specifics.  If you have a much larger group, let us know and we may be able to coordinate start times across rooms to optimize your experience.

We suggest you stow your belongings in our secure lockers so you can be 100% focused on the experience; however, we do allow you to carry your phone into the room if you wish.  Please keep phones in silent mode and stowed during the experience. In order for future guests to be able to fully enjoy the experiences, taking photos or videos in the rooms is strictly prohibited.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your reserved room time to allow for getting checked in and listening to a quick team briefing to make the most of your experience.

Generally, we cannot postpone scheduled start times as there are other groups scheduled after yours.  If you arrive a few minutes late, you may be admitted to the room but may miss briefing information and will only have whatever time is remaining in the room.  At the discretion of our staff, late participants may not be admitted to the rooms.  Late participants are not eligible for refunds.  Please make every effort to arrive on time.

Up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled time, you may change your reservation to a later day or time. Unfortunately, changes cannot be guaranteed if you are within 48 hours of your start time – please contact us and we’ll do our best to support you. Timed Out does not provide refunds.

You’ll be moving a bit, and you are racing against a clock – so we recommend comfortable clothing and shoes for Timed Out.  High heels, tight fitting clothing, excessive jewelry, etc. may decrease your enjoyment. (Players have been known to get on their hands and knees!)

If you have specific medical conditions, please consult your doctor prior to playing the rooms at Timed Out.  Many of our rooms utilize lighting, sound and video elements that may not be appropriate if you are susceptible to seizures.  While there are no physically taxing elements within our escape rooms, the physical activity and exciting nature of the rooms could create adverse risk to someone with a specific condition.  Again, we recommend you consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Yes, we’ve done our best to make the rooms accessible to all players.  Our entries and doorways are all roll-friendly, and we’ve tried to provide adequate space to turn and navigate through out the rooms.  Note that some of the room elements may be difficult to see or reach (high or low), so you may have to rely just a bit more on your teammates in a few instances.  If you play a room and have a challenge, please let us know how we can improve for future guests.
